Laptops – the Apple Macbook Air and the Dell Studio 17

Apple’s MacBook Air has been a very popular machine and there have been many people who have jumped at the chance to own one but is this because of the capabilities of the machine or simply the innovative look of this product? The Air has been marketed by Apple as the “world’s thinnest notebook”, however, have been a few claims that have said there was a Mitsubishi laptop from 1997 that was a fraction thinner but there are no other laptops around at the moment that come close to the size of the Air. The design and the engineering of this product is amazing and we would expect no less from Apple laptops, however, this device is very specialised and will no doubt not be as widely used as the standard 13-inch Macbook system. This could be because the MacBook Air has a few well-documented downfalls; it only has room for one USB port and no room for a built-in optical drive, mobile broadband, Ethernet or Firewire. On top of this, Apple still refuses to include a media card reader or an SD expansion slot in their laptops. However, there are of course some all-important plus-points; the ability to wirelessly connect to another system’s optical drive and new touchpad gesture controls. If you’re after an Apple Mac but aren’t sure whether the Air is for you then you will need to think of what you want from your laptop. For those who travel around a lot and who would benefit from a light-weight machine but with the extra screen space and who tend to hook up to the internet using Wi-Fi hot spots will probably be very impressed with the Air and its £1,199 price tag. If your needs are more complex and the high tech Apple MacBook Air doesn’t impress you too much in the looks department anyway then perhaps the new Dell Studio range laptops will suit you more. Dell laptops are made for a range of different prices but if you don’t want to be seen with the a cheaper Dell Inspiron laptop but the XPS range is well beyond your budget then the new Studio range could be just what you’ve been looking for. The Dell Studio 17 model can, like all Dell laptops, be customised to make it exactly what you’ve been looking for. The options start from the entry-level 1.73GHz Pentium Dual Core T2370 and work their way up to the 2.5GHz T9300 model. This means that there are choices of this laptop that will suit most budgets and performance needs. This model also has an HDMI output port and comes with a choice of three panels for its 17-inch screen; again, you can customise the screen in order to get the laptop of your dreams and with a price tag of £499, this sounds like a real bargain.

The Apple MacBook Air has a fantastic design, but you wouldn’t expect anything less from Apple laptops. If you want an Apple Mac but you’re not sure whether the Air is for you or not, the best thing to do is to think about what you want from a laptop. Dell laptops are sold for a range of different prices.

Technology Reviews: Helping Music Buffs to Stay in Tune

300 PhD scholars were divided into two groups in the premises of North Texas University and given the task of memorizing vocabulary. One group was taught the meaning with the help of music and the second without it. The result showed that the group that learned vocabulary with help of music outscored the second one by a huge margin.

The findings of the scientific experiment has a relation with the real life experience of a Russian captain. He was worried and exhausted in trying his best to rescue 3000 beluga Whales trapped in the narrow strait of Bering sea. All his efforts were going in vain as the noise of the rescue ship was frightening and confusing the whales. Suddenly a thought of playing Beethoven’s music came to the mind of the Capitan. He played it in all its capacity. To the surprise of others on the ship, the whales followed the music and swam through the narrow channel to freedom.

How to Easily Create, View, Modify, and Print All Your Pdf Files--without Paying for Acrobat

I've noticed that you'll often have a PDF file that you need to modify, only to discover that you can't change a PDF with the ease that you can a Word or Excel file. You realize that the only way to really do anything to a PDF is to get the full version of Acrobat. Unfortunately, that costs quite a bit of money. Money you don't have.

Fortunately, I came across a site recently in some dark corner of the internet. On this site, you can take any file, and quickly turn it into a PDF file that's incredibly easy to print and modify.

Not only can you turn any file into a PDF, but you can also format the text, insert images, even insert sounds. That's something Adobe Acrobat just doesn't let you do. And when dynamic, colorful documents are crucial in just about every facet of business and study, having access to those features are essential.

As PDFs are the most popular as well as the most reliable and recognized international standard for viewing and managing PDF documents in the world, we all want to be able to easily create and print them for easy sharing. Now, opening, creating, writing and printing PDF files has never been easier.

Membership with this service is lifetime, and the cost is quite insignificant.

This is the greatest tool I've found in a long time. Now for all of that have wondered, here is a new way to create, view, print, and modify PDF files. See it here.

Using Your Laptop As a GPS Unit

If you don't want to invest in a hand-held or vehicle-mounted GPS unit, you do have the much less expensive option of converting your laptop into a GPS unit with special software.

If your laptop has a good battery and an embedded wi-fi program, you may prefer investing the money into this software, which is very easy to use. With this software you can locate POIs (points or place of interest), or upload new ones for future reference. You can upload maps for regions where you will be traveling.

Of course, not everybody relishes the idea of having to keep a laptop computer up on the dashboard of their car like some police officer. They might instead use the option of finding and then printing out maps or POI, options which this ubiquitous GPS software comes with. On the other hand, for those who need to do a lot of driving in unfamiliar areas such as those who are salesmen, having the laptop GPS software might be even better than a dash-mounted unit; for the screen is much larger and it might be easier to glance over at it than to try constantly glancing down at a small-screen unit even if that unit is in front of them.

In either case, there may be times when it's necessary to pull over for a moment to read the screen. Nevertheless, it's still more convenient than carrying around a glovebox full of maps that aren't pinpointed as accurately as one of the printed out GPS maps.

Laptop-ready GPS software can be found in most major electronics and computer software stores. You can also easily find this software on the Internet. One of the top GPS software programs is that made by DeLorme in its new Earthmate GPS LT-40, which plugs into laptop via USB cable.

The leading features of this GPS software includes a high-sensitivity WAAS-enabled GPS receiver as well as the new Street Atlas USA 2009 software. DeLorme with this also provide a new, advanced interface, the features of which include a "cockpit view" of airplane-inspired navigation cues as well as a wide 3D perspective of the roads you are travelling.

Garmin, a leader in GPS technology, also makes superior laptop GPS software. With its Mobile 10 software, you don't need the USB cable; this is a high-sensitivity GPS receiver which connects to your laptop via wireless Bluetooth technology. This also comes with Garmin's Mobile XT, nRoute navigation software, and detailed City Navigator street maps.

Microsoft also makes excellent GPS software called Streets & Trips 2008, which comes with a high-sensitivity GPS receiver which plugs directly into your laptop's USB port without the need for any cable.

This software also comes with automatic re-routing, a perspective map that simulates what you see ahead of you on the road, day-night backlight modes, voice prompted directions, auto-zoom to that provides a more accurate view of your next turn, and a large database of POI.

So for those who are already enamored of their laptops and who don't want to lay out the cash for a GPS unit, the laptop software is the way to go.

The Modern Printer And Ink Cartridges; Essential For The Spread Of Ideas

Printing has been an important part of the development of the human race that has allowed the spreading of ideas and theories. It was especially important during the seventeenth century where religious reformers regularly printed material that was viewed by authorities as illegal and in some cases treasonous. This was the first time when people had the power to print their ideas even though the printing press was still a rarity in the early modern world. Today the situation is wholly different with the development of the home computer and subsequently home printers and ink cartridges. The spread of these devices however holds almost as much importance as the original printing press, as does the evolution of ink cartridges.

The inkjet printer and subsequently ink cartridges were introduced in 1984, meaning that people now had the power of a printing press in their own homes. This introduction created a convenient and reliable method of putting ideas on paper that previously was simply not possible. Before ink cartridges however there were the considerably messier ribbons and toner cartridges.

The reason the medium of delivering ink changed was a response to developments in printer technology. Those of a reasonable age will remember the old dot matrix printers that utilised a ribbon to place the image upon the paper. These printers however had serious limitations, not least the poor graphical quality, although the laborious task of changing the ribbon was also a major problem. The dot matrix printer however was soon surpassed by the inkjet variety, and by the time the nineties had rolled around, these were the predominant form of printers in offices and homes.

The benefits of the inkjet system were that it could deliver high quality images in both black and white as well as colour. In addition, rather than having a ream of continuous paper entering the printer, the inkjet variety could print on a large variety of paper sizes and materials. The largest benefit however was the ease of changing the cartridges. Today every type of inkjet printer has a specific cartridge that is inserted through a simple snap and shut technique; this meant that even the biggest technological novice is able to change the cartridge once it has been spent.

In the early years this meant that cartridges were solely produced by the printer manufacturers meaning they had a practical monopoly over prices. This however rapidly changed as the more common varieties of cartridges were produced by companies and sold for considerably less cost. Today the recycling of a spent ink cartridge is actively encouraged and there are large numbers of companies out there who are happy to take old cartridges and then refill them, making the price of the refills much more affordable.

The production of high quality printing has been instrumental in not only giving the mass public a means of spreading literature and ideas but also enabling many people to print their own photographs, reducing the costs of development. The printing of photographs however cannot be purely attributed to advances in printing technology but also the widespread use of the digital camera rather than its film predecessor. Whatever the reasons it is now cheaper than ever to put together a photo album and other documentation.

As previously stated printing has played an important role in the advancement of society and culture. This is not only true for the printing press that allowed for radical ideas to be spread but equally applies to the evolution of the modern home printer. Without it the world would simply not be the same and the flow of ideas would be heavily restricted.

What Is So Special About Computer Ink?

Upon breaking the seal on the shiny foil package, the ink cartridge is revealed. We simply pull the tab, and place the cartridge into the printer. Ever wondered what is really in that plastic cartridge?

Printer ink can be vastly complicated. The substance is made up of many different components, and these components will effect the look of the print job. Printer ink is composed of either dye or pigments of a specific quantity and type for coloration. Added to this is a surfactant to help balance how much the paper is wetted and to provide surface tension.

To make sure that the ink adheres to the paper and to limit the evaporation, resins and humectants are used. Thses cartridges also contain a mixture of de-ionized water, biocides, fungicides and buffering agents.

The print quality is affected by whether ink is dye based or pigment based. Dye based inks usually provide a sharper quality, and the colors are brighter. Due to the dye based ink's stability, it can be stored for long periods of time without degrading. However, there is a drawback to dye based ink.

This substance has a drying time of ten seconds, which often results in the image being blurred. Because of this drawback, pigment based inks are better suited for color printing.

Since pigment based inks are waterproof and fade resistant with a faster drying time, they prevent the print job from blurring. Also, they are a lighter and faster.

Another benefit of pigment based printer ink is it has a lower toxicity level. Ink manufacturers are striving to produce an ink that incorporates the best qualities of both types of inks, resulting in an ink that is not only vivid and durable, but also fade resistant and waterproof in hopes that the new ink would be capable of printing on any type of media.

Whether you are using dye based or pigment based ink, your actual ink colors are strangely limited. The actual ink colors found in cartridges are black, cyan, yellow, and magenta. In some cartridges that are created with photo printing in mind, you will also find the variations of light cyan, light yellow, and light magenta.

Cyan is a shade of blue, magenta is a shade of red, and yellow is just yellow. This gives the printer good mixing shades of the primary colors so that it can combine to create every color needed. The light variations also provided by photo cartridges help to insure the greater color distinction that is needed for quality photographs.

Now you have the facts about computer ink; make informed decisions about the features you want when you purchase that next printer cartridge. Feel empowered to achieve the results you desire!

Digital DJ Equipment Vs Crate Digging DJs

Stereotypes abound, for anyone who has caught the wonderful series Nathan Barley by Chris Morris, the cringeworthy world of the Hoxton Elite sums up DJ culture in one fail swoop. It's not just the DJ and his equipment, it's the hangers on, the hairstyles, the pseudo cool crowd baying for a tune that is so left field we are all in danger of getting lost in the wild wood of cacophony. Contrary to popular belief, there is more to being a DJ than just looking cool in a pair of headphones. Unfortunately to some that is all that they think there is to being a DJ.

Back in the day, as a lot of my vinyl friends are fond of saying, being a spinner of tunes took skill, dedication and commitment. It was a status reserved for music geeks. Being so into the scene meant a lifetime of dedication to music, not just a passing interest in the latest pop sensation. The disc jockey would typically get out of bed around noon, go crate digging until the shops closed and then proceed to either travel to a gig and go to bed around 6am, or stay up and mix until around about the same time.

The art of crate digging is akin to grannies at a jumble sale looking for a Faberge egg. Dusty rooms piled to the ceiling with every record from a white label undiscovered Stones LP to BBC sound effects, but who knows what is where. Some classics are just waiting to be discovered, a strange little loop half way through track four on the B side of some unknown 1950s crooner can make the next top ten chart breaker; and the only way to find it is by digging through those crates. Since the fall in popularity of vinyl as the essential DJ tool, the art of crate digging is becoming a dying pastime for all but the most dedicated. Bedroom music maestros probably don't even know about it, they probably don't even own a record.

The demise of vinyl has meant a change in technology; there has been a dip in the demand for analogue turntables and an increase in demand for digital DJ equipment. Eager to distinguish themselves from the iPod generation who just plug in a player and hit the shuffle button, established and talented DJs are calling for updated equipment; MP3 and compact disc as a medium is creating a need for players that can mix tracks like the old turntables do. There is no doubt that not having to lug a flight case with a hundred records in is a positive thing, especially if the option is carrying around a relatively lightweight piece of equipment that can be subsequently mixed from.

Back to the stereotype of the Hoxton 'massive' and we could argue that these guys are actually pioneering the new digital music scene. Creating crazy loops from the depths of the imagination that are inspired by a pair of hair straighteners breaking, or not being able to fit into the latest skinny jeans could be the new big thing. Maybe these guys are one up on the crate diggers who have been accused of just stealing other people's work and stitching it all together on fancy equipment. Maybe a good pair of headphones and a love of popular fashion are just what the music industry needs to bring it into the twenty first century.

That Tape May Not Play Because It Has Mold On It

Are you like most people who like to watch movies? We are, and we have a pretty good size collection of movies. We have some on VHS tapes and also on DVDs.

Do you know that if you don't watch your VHS movies often enough that they can develop mold on them, thus causing them not to play anymore? If you have a lot of these kinds of movies you might want to either replace them by buying their DVD counterparts or putting them on DVD discs. If you want to just put them on DVDs, you might have to buy a certain machine that can cost you just about as much as it would cost you to replace them yourself.

You can buy these older movies for almost next to nothing. You can also go to your neighborhood pawnshop and get them even cheaper. But the problem with doing it that way is you might get one that skips really bad. Sometimes these places might not give you back your money because they don't know the condition of the disk. Even so you won't be out a lot of money, so most people will just throw way the one that is bad.

When this mold does show up on these old movies, you can try to remove it by cleaning it off with a clean rag. If this doesn't work you might be able to use a light spray of some liquid right on the tape, but sometimes this might just tear the tape. You will end up having to throw it out anyway. But no matter which way you do this, the mold will still be there and will almost certainly will have to be dealt with over time.

So if you would happen to go and find a movie that you like, and it's on tape you might want to also get a blank DVD disc and see if you can find some way to put it on this disk. If you can't find a way, you might just want to wait and see if you can find it on a disk at maybe a store that just sells movies. There are plenty of them around. You might have to travel some, or you might run across it at a yard sale. Either way this is the best or cheapest way to get the movies you want.

Social Networking Website Software Proves To Be Safe and Secure

Most of the internet users of today are members of one social networking website or the other. There are many popular social networks like MyTube, Face Book and MySpace which has maximum members in them, which is attributed to the safe and secure social networking website software it uses on the website.

With so many people becoming members of social networks, the quest to find out if the information and data provided to the social networks is actually in safe hands goes on and on. And the answer these people always receive is an affirmative one.

This is because this social networking website software is constantly updated to ensure that people on the site are safe. This does not come as much of a surprise, considering the fact that the sudden rise in people being blackmailed through such information has made it important that safety and security is a priority on the sites.

Social networking sites are a great way of teaching children to keep in touch with family members and friends. However, this can be made possible only if you teach your children all the security features and restrictions available on the site to the child. If the child is not aware of these steps that have to be taken to protect private and personal information, the child may jeopardize this information. As the social networking website software offers all these tools on site, it does not prove difficult to teach your child the basic security features of the site.

However, there is no point in having security features in the social networking website software, if you are not careful in using the computer. There are many people who leave their email addresses, home address, full name and phone number on pages that are open for public to see. Remember it is important that you restrict strangers from accessing your personal information to be successful in the internet, and especially social networks.

It is only on visiting a social networking site do you realize the amount of security the social networking website software maintains in the site. The security features of the software includes encryption, CAPCHA codes, spam filters and even passwords that are used to ensure your safety in the site.

Of course, these safety features may not prove to be something special as practically all websites have these features. However there is some additional security provided with the social networking website software which is, providing users with the ability to block and restrict access to the site by people who are not known or recognized by the site.

One of the most popular social networking sites successfully using this software to day is Facebook, which is presently one of the largest social networking sites catering to high school and college students.

Basically, access to any profile page on the site is restricted unless and up till you are added as a friend in the site. Once you are declared and added as a friend, you can view the pages of your friend, leave comments when required and even send messages. It is also possible to see other friends of your friend; and by registering yourself as their friends, you will be able to see their private pages too. With all this security, personal information remains private and personal.

In the case of another site, MySpace, security issues are handled differently. Here the access to your page can be tailored for only friends and in some situations, let everyone else have a look at your page too. You can also place limitations on who can request making friendships with you. With this feature, it is possible to not only avoid spammers, but also prevent inappropriate people visiting or gaining access to your profile page.

All this does not imply that you have to take this software for granted. Remember that hackers will always look for ways to hack into accounts and gain access to information. This is why no matter how safe a social networking website may seem you should never disclose too much personal information on your profile page.

Remember that if you cannot actually control your personal information on the web, you are the one who will suffer from its consequences. Never actually rely only on the security measures found on social networking website software. It is better to consider them to be additional tools that you can use with your common sense for your own safety.

So it can be said that these features, with the safety steps and etiquette you have to maintain when on the internet all leave you with a social networking website software that is not only safe, but will keep you secure at all times.

Tips on How to Buy Front Loading Washing Machines

Are you in the market for a new washing machine? Wondering which washing machine you should buy? If you are, consider making the purchase of a front loading washing machine. Through this article you are provided helpful (and, indeed, necessary) tips on how to buy front loading washing machines.

Space

The first consideration that you will want to keep in mind when it comes to the prospect of purchasing a front loading washing machine is space consideration. The reason many people do elect to purchase a front loading washing machine rests in the reality that some models of these types of machines actually are more streamlined and better able to fit into a smaller space. For example, if you live in an apartment, you might find that this type of washing machine is ideal simply because in many instances such a model will take up less floor space.

Washing Loads

The next tip and pointer that you will need to keep in mind when it comes to purchasing a front loading washing machine is making sure that you will find such a machine appropriate for your circumstances. In most instances, a front loading washing machine will hold only smaller loads per wash. If you have a large family or have a need for larger wash loads, you may find that the front loading variety of washing machine might not be the best option for you.

Energy Efficency

Yet another consideration to keep in mind when it comes to front loading machines is that in most instances these appliances are far more energy efficient than their upright brethren. Therefore, if you want to save money on energy costs and if you want to lessen the impact your appliance use will have on the environment, the front loading variety of washing machine really may be the best option for you. In this day and age, energy and environmental considerations are very important to many people.
Finally, when it comes to purchasing a front loading washing machine, you need to keep in mind that there are variety of these types of appliances in a wide spectrum of prices. Therefore, if you have specific budgetary considerations when it comes to purchasing a washing machine, you will want to make sure that you take the time to shop around. By doing so you will be able to find a front loading washing machine that will best fit within your budget.

Internet Telephony Vs Normal Telephoning

Making a telephone call is probably one of the most common things you can do provided you do run your phone bill up high. The most you will gain out this is a simple use for a few minutes each day, perhaps more and engage in a conversation with the other person on the other end of the line. Telephones and communication across a network has been around for a little over a century, as quick communication is an extremely important part of putting across a message.

With this in mind the communication industry has progressed forwards as technology has advanced. One way of making a relatively cheaper phone call is via a VoIP phone (voice over internet protocol) which simply put is internet telephony software that allows you to make calls across the net. Unlike MSN or a normal messaging chat room, this is an actual telephoning system, which can be done for free or for a low cost across continents. VoIP phones are more popular amongst who live further away from each other and can communicate better through a broadband connection.

VoIP phones normally require both parties to use a broadband internet connection, install the same internet telephony programme and have added each other to their profile (similar to that of MSN messenger). These programmes do not charge for calls from one computer to the other, however, they do charge for landline and mobile phone calls. Over the years the connection and audio quality have improved making communication easier for both parties and the sound quality clearer.

Most internet telephony providers allow using various devices to make the calls, either by using a headset or using VoIP phones. Skype is one of the leading companies that offer such service, others include Paradial, Ooma, NETXUSA, Volt Delta Resources and many more. Some of the VoIP service providers can include different packages, such as Ooma offers a wireless internet telephoning protocol hub, which when connected to the broadband allows for cheaper or free calls.

Unlike conventional telephoning methods there are no wire transference present, which means they do not need to be manually connected. However, unlike normal telephoning, VoIP phones do require the users to be connected to broadband internet only and to have installed the same programmes. Therefore, anybody with a limited knowledge on the internet and computers will need to be shown how to install the programme and set up their own account.

Where normal telephones are permanently attached to a wire, the VOIP systems can be taken anywhere around the world provided you are connected to a broadband internet service and have your own computer (laptop or WAP). This can be done at no cost if the call is made to the same network. Furthermore, these come with in-built caller ID, call waiting, conference calls, repeat dialling, answering messages, and forward calling and voicemail options. Some of these features may be missing in some older conventional telephone models.

It would appear that VOIP phones are better at connecting to long distance calls, making it sound like a normal local call, whereas it could work out to be a costly process to make conventional calls across the border. They are by far more efficient, yet not convincing enough to take over conventional telephones, as they are still not as accessible. Many people are still unaware of internet telephone protocols, which is why the transition will be slow.

Discover The Latest Models In Photo Printers

Every year the electronics industry gears up for the IFA gadget convention where the giants in consumer technology showcase their latest and greatest. This year has been no exception with much of the focus being on the new mainstream HD ready TV technologies however the other areas have not been forgotten. This article focuses on the new range of photo printers that have been released, offering an impartial assessment of three leading product lines from three top manufacturers.

Autumn collection might be something that is usually associated with fashion houses however now the expression has been commandeered by Cannon to announce the launch of the Pixma All-In-One, or AIO range. The prices range from 50 to 280GBP and the features include auto fix image correction, auto scan mode which makes scanning much more straight forward and ChromaLife 100 plus which claims to give photos a longer life.

Two of the new launches are WiFi photo printers and there are a number of single function photo printers from Cannon which have been announced. Cannon have also announced the launch of three new models of single function scanners, the CannonScan LiDO range which offer a scan at 4800x4800dpi in 14 seconds. The Cannon revelations have however been overshadowed by the unveiling of the EOS 5OD, the flag ship digital camera.

Although Cannon announced a multitude of various new printer models, Epson opted for style as opposed to numeracy. The super sleek series of Artisan printers sees only two models launched, the 800 and 700. Both are piano black AIO printers offering 38 pages per minutes standard printing speed and photos in under 10 seconds, with larger printers taking just under one minutes.

Both models can also print directly onto CDs and DVDs and have a selective panel display which lights up the buttons you need depending on which function you are using, so for fax only the buttons applicable to fax light up making it less energy efficient but more user friendly. The touch screen functions are easy to use and you can crop, rotate, copy and access print options. The only difference between the two models is the 800 comes with WiFi, a larger display and Automatic Document Feeder.

From sleek and sexy to technological wizardry, the Casio photo printer duo just unveiled is more than meets the eye. When first looking at the PCP 1200 and PCP photo printers from Casio you might be forgiven for thinking that they are boxy and nothing on the Epson Artisan. This is until to boxy practicality of the models is revealed, as both models come with a flip screen and keypad. This increases the operational features and the photo printers can print up to A6 size photos, more is due to be revealed on this product as we await the UK launch.

Eliminating All of Your Prank Calls

We have all been on the receiving end of a prank call at some time in our lives, whether it's a call to your mobile, home phone or office phone. There are pranksters that may just perform a one off prank call, which is acceptable to handle. But what about the people that are doing it day in and day out, it does start to get slightly overwhelming and you just want to throttle them. The worst it can get is at night times, especially if you are on call as a doctor or nurse, you leave your phone switched on so that you do not miss any important calls and then a prankster that just hangs up on you wake's you up.

So you've have decide that you have finally had enough and you want to eliminate these prank calls for good. From here in, there are two main options you can take. First and foremost there is the option of hiring a private investigator; this may cost you quite a bit of money in the long run. So you should firstly decide to yourself if it is fully worth the hassle? A private investigator will be able to promptly get to the bottom of things and will give you the evidence so that you can report the abuser to the police.

Alternatively your second choice will be to use a reverse phone number search service. You can get a free version or a paid version. The way in which this service works is that it identifies a caller from a landline but only if there number is unlisted, therefore it will not in any circumstances work for mobile phones or VoIP phones. This is somewhat of problem as most pranksters to tend to call from unregistered mobiles. But this being said if you do sign up for a paid version of the reverse search than you will have access to most of the entire mobile and VoIP numbers. It usually costs a minimal fee to sign up.

Once you have received all of the information of the prank caller, you will then be able to succeed in eliminating the calls. This again can be done in two ways, the first is a more kind approach whereas the next time the prankster calls you, you should address them with all there information. This will definitely give them a scare, if this technique does not work you can then pass all of your information over to the local authorities who will be more than delighted to help you.

Cell Phone Technology Continues to Advance

Cell phones are arguably one of the biggest impact inventions of the past twenty years. Although telephones are nothing new, cell phones have revolutionized how people communicate, for better or for worse. It's easier than ever to communicate with people anywhere in the world. Phones are no longer used just to speak with people, but now offer a variety of extra features such as texting, cameras, and access to the Internet. Phones are getting thinner and thinner, all while providing more function than ever before.

Almost 100 years ago, people began fantasizing about the possibility of a wireless phone. However, it took several decades for the idea to evolve. Twenty years ago, the impact and global reach of cell phones would have been unfathomable. The first cell phones were ridiculously large and heavy, quite unlike the small, sleek models that are so popular now.

In regards to phone design, there are three main types of phones seen on the market right now: basic "flat" phones, flip phones, and slider phones. There are also a few other types of designs popping up for those in the market for high-end phones, such as touch-screen phones, and those with two sides of interface.

Features such as voicemail, caller ID, and voice dial are no longer pricey upgrades to phone service, but a part of the basic phone plan. Although for many people it's hardly an "option," text messaging is by far the most popular upgrade on the market. Most cell phone service providers have a high per-text fee (around twenty cents per text) as well as several texting packages that are far more affordable. Because so many customers, teenagers especially are addicted to texting (sending thousands every month), the unlimited texting package is extremely popular in the United States.

Cell phones now have a variety of multimedia options available for download at an additional fee. The list includes the "essential" and the trivial, including ringtones, wallpapers, games, and music. This is one area where the cell phone market could improve; the options are typically somewhat mediocre in quality while expensive compared to the other downloads out there.

Unfortunately, there are a couple downsides to this tremendous invention. The actual telephone part of the cell phone is being commonly overlooked or ignored, with far more focus being given to the extra gizmos and fashion statement behind the phone.

Even more of a problem, the cell phone has been attributed with increasingly poor etiquette and discourtesy. People are continuously asked to turn off or silence their phones before entering quiet places like theaters, libraries, and places of worship. However, since there is little way to enforce these rules, people are repeatedly embarrassed when their phone unexpected goes off at the most inconvenient or inappropriate times.

It has become increasingly common for people to use their cell phones while driving, whether for calling somebody or sending a text. Every year, many accidents are blamed on inattentive drivers who were distracted by their phone. So far, the only method for reducing these accidents has been to ban cell phone use while driving.

Technology never ceases to blow people away. Even though the cell phones of today seem remarkable compared to Alexander Graham Bell's first can-and-string device, phones will continue to evolve. Phones are no longer just for calling people, but just one small feature of a larger "smartphone" capable of so much more.

Front Loading Or Top Loading?

Well, today Washing Machine is a necessity in every household and it is also worth the expenditure. But knowing which one is important for you is the main factor. With the improving technology, there have been a wide range of these appliances being launched in the market and as a result we are provided with lot of choices.

It leads to confusion and we are not able to decide which is appropriate for our purpose thus resulting in wrong purchase, many of the times. So to overcome this problem, you should have the basic knowledge regarding its purchase. Here are some of the distinctions made on different kinds of Washing Machines.

The first dilemma is whether to go for a front-loading or top-loading washing machine.

The main difference between a top loading and front loading washing machine is how the clothes are placed inside. A top loading washing machine has a hinged lid on top, allowing the clothes to be placed inside a horizontally-oriented watertight tub. In the center of this tub is a device called an agitator. The agitator's job is to swirl the clothes through the soapy water.

A front loading washing machine has no central agitator, but uses gravity and side-mounted paddles to agitate clothes. Once the front door is closed, it remains locked mechanically until the washing cycle is complete.

One advantage of a front loading washing machine is an increased capacity. A front loading washing machine is also gentler on clothes and generally quieter to operate. Another advantage is less water and detergent usage.

A top loading washer must use enough water to cover the highest level of the clothes. A front loading washing machine, on the other hand, only uses enough water to cover approximately the lower third of the tub at most.
However, it is expensive to buy, heavy, smaller range available, usually no adding clothes.

While a top loader is cheaper, faster, lighter, big ranges available and early loading from top. Well, like the front loader, it also has its drawbacks as well. The top loader uses a large amount of water, not energy efficient, uses more detergent, pace needed to open lid.

Number of features come into consideration like:

- Wash Performance for its effectiveness at cleaning and removing stubborn stains;
- Energy Efficiency, according to the amount of water and electricity it uses, and;
- Spin Speed, the faster the rotations, the more water is extracted and the quicker the drying time.
- Capacity, can be a big deal for many energy efficient models. They save energy by allowing you to wash fewer clothes at once.
- Variable wash temperatures, are a useful feature.

Most clothes only need to be washed on cold, avoid using warm or hot water unless the clothing is heavily soiled or requires it.

Washing Machines come in various range starting from 3,000/- to 45,000/- or even more.

Well, now it might be easier for you to judge which type of machine fulfill your needs and also to make a clear comparison as you know the features of different types of washing machines.

Amazing Technological Advancements Of 2008

You may remember the things that seemed impossible when you were a child: talking to somebody on the other side of the world, for free and anytime you like was probably one of them, along with a cure for AIDS, and being invisible. All of these boundaries have been broken, completely or at least in effect. Surely we will be flying, teleporting and living to our two-hundredth birthdays, within the next century! However, sometimes the simplest advances are the most amazing, not least because they are actually here, now. In this article we look at some amazing advancements in technology from 2008, specifically with regard to computer hardware, software, network performance management and information technology infrastructure.

Do you remember the science fiction movies where messages are projected onto walls, or even into the middles of rooms like in Star Wars? Well, the first steps to that technology have been unveiled by Microsoft at the CEO Summit in Washington recently. Microsoft has developed laser technology that can turn any surface into a touchscreen, and allow you to interact with a central computer, even on the internet. This information technology infrastructure means you could be having chat conversations on the kitchen bench while cooking, or reading emails in the shower, before long. We aim higher than even Bill Gates comment that we should "Think about the whiteboard in your office becoming intelligent".

Not likely to be hailed as a genius breakthrough by consumers, but perhaps the savior of the music industry, is a new digital fingerprinting technology being developed primarily by LTU technologies. Long has law enforcement and information technology consultants thrown their hands up in helplessness at the problems of piracy of music and video content, saying there is juts no way to control it. However, digital fingerprinting could save the music and video industries millions of dollars every year. Key identifiers in a file are pattern matched against a central database - if a pattern is copyrighted, it can't be uploaded. This information technology infrastructure also has the potential to do wonders for network performance management, as traffic levels drop.

Sometimes the most amazing advancements are also the ones that you didn't realize weren't yet possible. Ordinary people have heard of wireless technology, and immediately assumed they could be surfing the internet from their laptop while skydiving, travelling the countryside, or out in deep dark forests.

The reality is a lot more sober - however, there has recently been an amazing new development in wireless information technology infrastructure that allows delivery of audio and video content to passengers on the Singapore Flyer, the world's tallest observation deck. It was previously impossible to get data reliably through such a tall, large and dense structure, which was also continuously moving. However, an IT consulting firm has developed solutions which allow just that. Laptops while skydiving are one step closer, at least!

New wireless sensor technology might also help track both computational loads on large mainframes, and the heat distribution of your house. Microsoft has developed very cheap wireless sensors that can be used to collect and transmit data, as well as controlling environments. For about $3 a sensor, in the future you could have an automatically, perfectly climate controlled home. No more chilly hallways and dank corners!

While we aren't teleporting or outliving turtles yet, it seems that it certainly won't be long.

Several Popular Technology Related Product Reviews

What do cell phones, mp3 players and "as seen on TV" products all have in common? The answer, they are all products that stay on the cutting edge of technology. The fact that a footwear company and a computer manufacturer would team up together is astonishing. Nike and Apple joined forces together in 2006 to create the Apple+Nike shoe. This shoe fused Nike's design technology with Apple's innovative iPod. A Nano is contained in the shoes sole. With Apple selling over one million iPhones and over 3 billion songs on iTunes, you can see how Apple is leading the pack in developing technologically advance products. This is only a portion of what they have going on in the field of technology.

Blu Ray Technology
The blu-ray was developed by several consumer electronics groups including Apple, Hitachi, HP, Mitsubishi, Panasonic, Samsung, and Thomson. There has to be a union amongst companies before new products can be made. Each company stands to make money from the various components that often compliment technology products. Blu Ray disk would be useless to produce without a compatible television that could deliver the quality that blu ray offers. Panasonic is now turning out blu ray recorders in addition to its plasma televisions.

Camera Phone Technology
Cameras technology has advanced past a professional level where consumers can produce the same traditional picture quality as photo studios. The Nikon D90 prosumer DSLR camera for instance can create stunning still pictures in addition to High Definition (HD) video. Nokia's N85 Mobile Phone includes games, music, gps and a camera. Samsung's G810 camera phone technology features wifi, gps and TV output settings. The i8510 by Samsung is a prime example of several technologies being incorporated into phones. According to Samsung's Electronics sales and marketing assistant manager Philippe El Nakour, The Samsung Innov8 uses the latest in imaging applications, such as smile shot, blink shot, and face recognition.

Video Game Systems
Out of all of the video game systems on the market, Nintendo's Wii is by far the most compact in size. This compact video game console with its Wi-Fi Connection allows users from around the world to compete against each other. Other features include two slots for memory cards and a 20GB hard drive on basic models. With the introduction of the Xbox 360 to the market, players were introduced to quite a few unique features with this console.

There is a marketplace were games and other entertainment content can be purchased. The technology that drives this generation of gaming systems is the online capabilities. They blend the standard game play with all of the latest computer technology has to offer. Cd and DVD play along with video games and USB 2.0 ports make this system a hot item. Sony's PlayStation 3 incorporates the same blu ray technology mentioned above in its disc formatting. The PS3 was the first console on the market to offer a 2x speed Blu-ray Disc drive. In less than two years on the market, the PS3 has established itself as one of the best selling consoles out.

Whether it is blu ray, camera phones or video game systems, technology driven products are readily available to consumers at low rates. In fact, technology and knowledge are growing so rapidly that the market price quickly drops soon after they are released.

Getting Help Scanning Negatives

Scanning negatives and slides can seem a bit tricky, but it can be done with the right equipment and know how. First of all, negatives and slides can be scanned with a scanner, but you cannot just put a negative on the glass and push the button to scan.

The scanner you use has to be one with built in negative scanning ability. Usually, a scanner designed for paper documents wont have this feature, but some do. A good scanner that is suitable for scanning negatives will produce excellent quality scans quickly, and there are different models to choose from that can allow you to scan numerous negatives and slides at once.

Scanning Negatives: DPI and Resolution
To begin, since the image on a negative is so small, you will want to keep a high resolution so that you can enlarge the picture and still maintain good picture quality. A good rule of thumb is that for every doubling in size for the picture, maintain that same increase for your resolution. For example, to get a 4X6in print from a 4X6in scan, the recommended dpi setting is 300. To get an 8X11 from that same scan, double the dpi to 600, and so on.

Scanning Negatives: Files and Output Type
There are several different file formats for images that computers use. These are TIFF, JPEG, and BMP files, just to name a few. The best files for scanning negatives are TIFF files. TIFFs can be edited and saved easily, and without compression loss. However, TIFFs can be large files that take up much memory. Besides choosing a file format, Output Type is another variable to consider when scanning. The default output type is usually Millions of Colors which is the best for photos with lots of color. Grayscale is for black and white pictures. It is recommended, though, that you maintain the default setting for color output, because this maintains the highest picture quality, and photo enhancement software can easily take the color photo and put it in black and white for you.

A word of caution about storage space: Many people have found that file sizes can mount quickly with scanning, saving, and editing photos. Pay special attention to file sizes and how much space is available on a CD or disk that you are saving the pictures to. Try to see about how much space a picture file uses, multiply that by the number of files you are saving, and make sure you dont run out of space in the middle of creating your masterpieces!
Keeping these tips and other important points in mind will help you decipher the puzzle of scanning negatives. These tips will get you started on your way to turning your tiny negatives into meaningful photographs that you will treasure for years to come.

Using Photo Preservation to Stop Time

Photo preservation can be a complex process that requires lots of patience, knowledge, and care. When people handle their pictures and negatives, they do many things, unintentionally, that are very harmful to them, and most do not even know they are damaging their photos. Besides sticking fingers all over the pictures, there is more than fingerprints that can slowly destroy your paper memories. Pictures are actually made of gelatin and tiny silver particles. This makes them susceptible to bug infestation, mold, mildew, and humidity.

Unfortunately, many things that are made for use with pictures are the very things that hasten their disintegration. Many picture boards, cardboards, and most glue contain an acid that slowly eats away at the pictures. Even the chemicals that are used to develop the film from negatives are to blame for the eventual demise of these photographs.

Photo Preservation: Safe Handling
The most common problem that causes photographs to be lost is one that is simple to remedy: Lack of Identification. Who in the next generation would keep pictures around full of people and places they know nothing about? The first tip for preserving pictures is when you do write identifiers on them, use India ink or a carbon ink pen. Many other regular pens contain chemicals that will eventually ruin the photo. Dont use oily erasers, and never write on the front of the picture, with the exception of special paints designed to do so. Most people are commonly aware that sunlight will ruin photographs, so be careful where you place your pictures in their frames.

Never use rubber cement to adhere photographs to anything. The acids in rubber cement will ruin the picture quickly, cracking the emulsion and paper backing. Rubber cement contains sulfur, which reacts with the silver that sentences pictures to certain death! Do not use the photo albums that have the self-adhesive pages covered by clear plastic film. The glue, again here too, is acidic. Never display your pictures in vinyl sleeves. The sleeves are made out of a certain type of plastic that will cause both color and black and white photos to fade.

Photo Preservation: Safe Storage:
Art supply stores and photo shops are excellent places to find photo-friendly supplies for your pictures. Many times, pictures that you want to keep in storage are done so by putting them in any old bag or a box. There are boxes specifically designed for storage, but be careful; to keep photographs safe for many years, look for containers that are labeled as safe for archival storage.

Also, keeping them in metal filing cabinets is ok too, or at least better than in a cardboard or wooden box. Once you have specifically-designed boxes for the pictures, be sure to keep them in a cool, relatively dry place. Finally, never keep your photos, no matter what kind of storage box they are in, on floors or in damp basements.

Where Did Mobile Telephones Come From?

Nowadays, everybody has a mobile phone. Whether they're on a contract or a pay as you go tariff, the mobile phone has become an essential item for several people. this article will look at the history of the mobile phone - & its future - in order to discover more about the now essential telecommunications device.

The mobile phone began life as the two-way radio, which was also known as mobile rigs. these were put in vehicles such as minicabs, police cars and ambulances, although were not strictly mobile phones because they were not usually connected to the phone network. whilst the very first mobile phones were permanently installed in vehicles, later versions such as the transportables, also known as bag phones, could be carried, too, and could be used as either mobile or as portable two way radios.

The first mobile telephones were named first generation telephones, also referred to as 1g. The 1g era lasted from the late seventies through to the eighties. these devices were the very first real mobile telephones, although they were then named cellular mobile radiophones, and were based on analogue signals. the analogue signal would be the main difference between these first generation mobile telephones and their second generation cousins, which emerged a while later.

Second generation (2-g) mobile phones were first released in the nineties. Unlike 1-g phones that were analog, 2-g phones use digital technology to provide voice services & for text messaging & wap.

A handful of the advantages of 2-g phones are that they use lower radio signals, which require less battery power. This means that phones last much longer between charges, so batteries - & therefore the telephones themselves - can be made tinier. in addition to this, 2-g phones offer more privacy. Indeed, digital telephone calls are a lot harder to eavesdrop on than 1-g phone calls.

The name 2.5G is used to describe the phone technology that is post 2-g, but not quite 3g. However, while the terms 2-g & 3g are officially defined, the term 2.5G is not. in fact, this definition was invented by marketing bosses only.

After 2-g mobile telephones, 3g mobile phone technology arrived. 3-g is the term applied to the third generation of mobile phone standards and technology.

3-g technologies allow network operators for instance 02 and vodafone to offer their clients a larger range of advanced services, comprising of video calls, and broadband internet.

The very earliest 3-g network was launched by NTT DoCoMo in japan in may of 2001. it was launched commercially in japan on 1 october 2001. the very earliest European pre commercial 3g network was launched at the isle of man by Manx Telecom, who are owned by british telecom, in December 2001.

We hope our article has told you more about the mobile phone's history. As you've probably guessed, the mobile telephone has come a hell of a long way & will continue to progress even further.

4g technology will certainly give the mobile phone a new lease of life, potentially offering the live streaming of tv & radio shows plus a whole lot more besides. For the mobile phone, it is clear that the sky's the limit.

Reverse Cell Phone Numbers, The Easy Way

Are you getting unsolicited calls from an unknown number? You may want to find out who is behind those prank calls. You may have found a unknown phone number on your spouses phone. Whatever the case, there are a few quick and easy solutions online that can help you reverse cell phone numbers. There are many sites out there that claim they offer free reverse cell phone numbers searches, be very wary of these sites. If they ask you for any personal information, move on.

One of the very first things you can do online is to run a Google search on the phone number. Many people who use this strategy find that the number originated from a telemarketer, business, or some other automated service. Surprisingly, there are many people who come online with the same questions and get the same exact phone calls.

Another easy thing you can do is to go to an online phone directory like the Whitepages online. Websites like these are basically the online version of your average phone book. Just like the phone books, you will get results from landline numbers and home phone numbers. This is not particularly useful in finding cell phone numbers.

If you are certain the phone call came from a cell phone number, then you can subscribe to a cell phone directory. You can search the cell phone directory to find the number you want. The problem with these services is the database are not very well updated. Chances are you will have to subscribe to more than one database to get the number you want. This makes it a costly and time consuming alternative.

The best option in my opinion is to run a reverse cell phone numbers search. Reverse searches are a lot quicker and reliable now with the progress of mobile technology. There are many services out there that offer this service. Many also have background check services if you want to take it a step further. You simply type in a phone number and you get an instant report telling you the name, location, and other information that will help you identify the exact identity of the person.

If you have exhausted all those options, you can do it the old fashioned way. You can call the phone number yourself or have someone else you trust call up the phone number. If the phone number originated from a telemarketer, more often than not, one call is enough to stop future calls. Make sure you keep your identity a secret, so that you can flesh out the person behind those phone calls.

Ice Flakers To Ice Skaters - Icy Activities For Fun

There is nothing like a long drink on a hot sunny day to cool down. Fruit juice bursting with health and vitality needs more than a straw and an an umbrella to top it off, for a proper refreshing beverage, heaps of ice are needed, crushed, cubed or flaked. There is more to ice than just popping the stuff in drinks to keep the summer heat at bay. Here are some ideas for icy activities.

The Vodka Luge
Continuing with a drinking theme, the luge is a fun way to enjoy a drink. The difference is that the alcohol is inside the ice and no glasses are needed! A variation of the traditional ice sculptures adorning corporate dinner tables, the luge is a party centrepiece. The vodka luge is a sculpted block of ice that has a channel running through it to pour a drink through for a super chilled alcohol hit. As the drink is poured in one end, the drinker waits at the other, mouth open to consume the icy vodka. To make the process more entertaining, the sculptures are often of body parts or objects that cause great hilarity when they have to be put to the mouth! A basic luge can be created at home, simply by freezing water in a mould as big as you fit in a freezer. A plastic storage tub is ideal. Placing flexible tubing or wooden doweling in the mould forms a basic channel.

The Other Luge and more Icy Sports
If partying like an animal is not on the agenda, the other luge is an option for more sober entertainment. A luge is a sled for up to two people similar to a bobsleigh and luge is the name of sport where the sleds race against each other and the clock. Another equally dangerous sporting pastime is Ice Hockey. Infamous for it's on rink fisty cuffs, the fights during ice hockey matches are all part of the game. When not fighting, there is the ever present danger of getting a puck in the face or another bodily target despite the ten tonnes of padding and a helmet. Ice skating on the other hand is a much more sedate pastime, and twirling away to the bolero in spangled spandex is always an option for a Friday night down the local ice rink.

Ice Sculptures that aren't Luges
Ice sculptures have connotations of being a little passe. Although a vodka luge makes an interesting variation, there are actually ice sculptors out there whose talents blow minds. Intricate sculptures of cameras and cars are cleverly crafted by artists as decor for corporate events and as promotional sculptures for big business. The craft is regarded as an art in it's own right too and competitions happen on a regular basis to crown a person as the most talented ice artist.

The Ice Hotel
However impressing all the crazy ice sculptures may be, nothing can beat the wonder of an ice hotel. There are several hotels of this nature located in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Greenland and Quebec. These hotels have to be constructed from scratch every year as they melt during the summer time, and absolutely everything is made from ice. The glasses, plates, chairs, tables, beds are all made from ice. There is the luxury of sleeping on reindeer skin to keep the chills at bay though! The first hotel was in Sweden and happened by accident. Japanese ice artists created an installation, and that evening there were no places to stay, so they bedded down to become the first guests in what became an ice hotel. So get creative with ideas for ice, you may well stumble upon a great new trend!

Telescope Buying Guide - How To Buy A Telescope?

Are you interested in astronomy? Wouldn't it be great, to really see, what all those shinning points of light are, in the night sky? Well, you can with a telescope, but how to buy a telescope? What do you need to get started in astronomy, and wouldn't it be great to have it all in an easy telescope buying guide, such as this article?

Well, you have it. Here is the article, that can help you get into astronomy. First it is important to consider a few points, when wondering how to buy a telescope. The first and obvious step, is buying a telescope. However, there are some other parts, which go to make your hobby in astronomy, so much more fun.

You need 3 things to get the most out of astronomy, and 1 other item, which I recommend:
1. A telescope (this telescope buying guide, should help with that!)
2. A star atlas
3. A good practical book on astronomy and telescopes

* Optional
4. A notebook

Let us look into these necessary items to get the most out of astronomy. Remember, you can easily get into astronomy, by studying and learning the constellations. Some people in our human history, devoted there lives to constellations, some even to just 1 or 2!

* 1. How To Buy A Telescope?
Your first step before buying a telescope, is to consider what you want it for. Remember, telescopes are scientific instruments. This is an investment, and generally more you pay, more better telescope you get, which can literally last a life time.

If you have been wondering how to buy telescopes, you have come to the right place! Buying a telescope requires buying from either 1 of 3 places. From a specialized telescope shop, though these are not always easily found. The next is through mail order and the third, which is the easiest, is online.

There are 2 main types of telescope, one is reflector telescopes (catoptric), and refracting telescopes (dioptric). One has a big mirror, and the other is longer, and slimmer. They both pretty much do the same objectives. However, many people prefer the reflector for deep space viewing.

* 2 & 3 - A Good Star Atlas And Practical Astronomy And Telescopes Book
Getting the most out of the science of astronomy, is not about buying the biggest telescope or the high price you paid. Instead it is about knowing what is where, and where to look.

Galileo's telescope was so inferior to today's telescopes readily available, that he said that Saturn has ears! However, he still invested a lifetime into the study of these objects.

The key to knowing where to look, is with a good star atlas, and a practical astronomy book, designed for small telescope use. A book called - Turn Left At Orion, seems to be the most popular, and easy to follow.

* 4. A Notebook
Viewing Saturn, Jupiter, and the Moon, can be fun home scientific tasks, but what happens next? We get bored! The truth is, to get the most out of astronomy, is to treat it as a science. Even if you are the worst painter, you still can record a detailed picture of the Moon's craters over days, and see the differences. This will go a long way in the future, and will allow you to look back, and see what many people will never see, and all because you invested into the science of astronomy.
